Paper based exam
In paper-based exams, candidates are given a printed exam booklet containing the questions and a separate answer sheet to record their answers. The exam questions are designed to assess the candidates' language proficiency in all four language skills - listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
The paper-based format is typically used for smaller groups of candidates, and the exams are administered in a controlled environment under the supervision of trained invigilators. The exam hall is set up with desks, chairs, and other necessary equipment, and candidates should bring pens, pencils, and erasers.
During the exam, candidates are required to follow the instructions carefully and complete the questions within the given time limits for each paper.
One of the advantages of paper-based exams is that they allow candidates to see the questions and instructions clearly and to annotate or underline key information as needed. However, the main disadvantage of paper-based exams is that they may take longer to process the results, with results typically being available within four to six weeks of the exam date.
The paper-based format of Cambridge English exams provides a reliable and standardised way for candidates to demonstrate their language proficiency. While they may take longer to process the results, they offer a tried-and-tested method for assessing candidates' language skills that has been used successfully for many years.
