BULATS (Business Language Testing Service)

Cambridge English BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) was a globally recognised English language proficiency test specifically designed for the workplace. It evaluated the language skills of employees, job seekers, and students who intended to work or study in an international business environment.

The BULATS test was divided into four modules: reading and language knowledge, listening, writing, and speaking. It was available in both paper-based and online formats, and the test results were available within 48 hours of taking the test.

In 2018, Cambridge Assessment English announced that it would discontinue the BULATS test and replace it with a new test called Linguaskill Business. The new test was designed to provide a more accurate assessment of the language skills needed in today's global workplace.

Linguaskill Business from Cambridge

Linguaskill Business is an online, computer-based test that assesses the language skills of employees and job seekers in a business context. It evaluates the four language skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and provides instant results.

One of the main benefits of Linguaskill Business is its adaptability. The test adjusts its difficulty level in real time based on the responses of the test-taker, ensuring that the test accurately measures their language proficiency. Additionally, Linguaskill Business offers a range of customisable test options, making it a flexible and convenient testing solution for companies and organisations of all sizes.

Overall, Cambridge English BULATS was a respected language proficiency test that helped individuals demonstrate their language skills in a professional context. Its discontinuation and replacement by Linguaskill Business was a strategic move by Cambridge Assessment English to provide a more effective and up-to-date language assessment solution for the global workforce.
